HP 4291A RF impedance analyzer

HP 4291B

Features

The Agilent 4291A uses a direct current-voltage measurement technique for an accurate impedance measurement over wide impedance range. The set-up has been equipped with a special test fixture for measuring the complex permeability of thin films, and a Helmholtz coil system for measurements in a non-zero external magnetic field. Special properties are:
  • Wide frequency range from 1 MHz up to 2 GHz with 1 mHz resolution.
  • Wide impedance range from 0.1 to 50 kohm.
  • Accuracy of impedance measurement is 1 - 10% depending on impedance and frequency range.
  • Accuracy of Q measurement is 5-10% for a Q-factor of 100.
Basic measurement flow (see HP 4291A User's Guide, chapter 3):
  1. Turn on the analyzer and allow for a 30 minute warm-up period.
  2. Calibrate the test head.
  3. Connect the test fixture to the test head.
  4. Set the electrical length of the test fixture.
  5. Compensate for the test fixture.
  6. Put the sample in the test fixture.
  7. Set up the analyzer to fit the measurement requirements.
  8. Measure the sample.
  9. Analyze the experimental result.
